What is a story? The answer might surprise you. Stories are different than reports. Understanding the difference between explaining what happened and relating a story will transform the way you communicate. All stories have four elements to them, but by adding two additional elements, you can shape and tell short, powerful narratives.
You’ll learn:
-
Why stories are more than accounts of things that happened—and how that understanding will improve your communication.
-
The six elements that impactful stories include.
-
The difference between an anecdote and a story, and how and when to use each of them.
-
How to examine and tap into your own experiences for storytelling content to use in your work.
-
What to avoid when telling personal stories (and what to include).
-
How to bridge into an application of your anecdote to your specific situation.
