The Bankruptcy & Commercial Law Section brings together a broad and active community of attorneys focused on bankruptcy and commercial law, including both consumer and commercial practitioners. The Section has a long-standing reputation for fostering a collegial and engaged environment where members can stay current on evolving legal issues while connecting with peers across the practice area.
Through high-quality CLE programming and regular discussions, the Section promotes education and thoughtful dialogue around developments in legislation, case law, and practice trends. Its signature Bankruptcy Institute attracts respected national speakers, judges, and leading practitioners, reinforcing the Section’s role as a trusted source of insight and professional development in the field.
In addition to its educational offerings, the Section contributes to the legal community through publications, including Bar Journal articles and its Fair and Equitable newsletter series, as well as through public service and mentorship initiatives. These efforts include supporting the Northern District of Ohio Mentor Program and maintaining the Marvin and Sue Sicherman Excellence in Bankruptcy Award, which provides scholarships to law students pursuing an interest in bankruptcy and commercial law.
Supported by an active executive committee and engaged membership, the Section continues to provide meaningful opportunities for learning, leadership, and impact within the profession.
