The In-House Counsel Section was established to address the unique needs of attorneys working within corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies. Created through the CMBA Leadership Academy, the Section provides a dedicated space for in-house practitioners to connect, collaborate, and engage with peers who share similar roles and responsibilities.
Recognizing that in-house counsel often navigate distinct challenges and perspectives, the Section offers opportunities for members to exchange ideas, discuss best practices, and build professional relationships in a setting tailored specifically to their experience. Regular meetings and roundtable discussions create space for candid conversation, knowledge-sharing, and practical insight.
Through CLE programming and ongoing engagement, the Section supports professional development on issues relevant to in-house practice while fostering a strong peer network. The Section also contributes to the CMBA Bar Journal and supports initiatives such as subcommittees focused on specific areas of interest, including general counsel leadership and nonprofit practice. Through these efforts, the Section provides meaningful support for attorneys working in-house and helps strengthen their role within the broader legal and business communities.
